So many social networks…so little time

One of the top questions I get is “Which Social Network do you recommend and why?”.  Yes, it seems everyday I get an invitation to another online networking group.  So how do you choose?  Step 1 – get out your dartboard.  SMILE  Seriously, I think I stumbled into the world of social networking.

What I have discovered is how to get 3 or 4 of them to work together.  No matter what you choose, the common theme is this.  “Do not try and sell yourself or your business.  Simply give and create relationships.”  Wow! Sounds like traditional networking doesn’t?

Since there is so much out there to try and figure out, I thought I would put together a simple step-by-step guide so business pros could maximize their time online and the social networks out there.

So here is the first step…..

  1. Write down 5 goals you would like to achieve from being online.  (E.g. Create a sphere of influence, Learn how to _______, Connect with _________ , etc.)  Remember to be specific with your goals and give them a date.
  2. What target market(s) are you wanting to connect with?  For me, I connect with a few.  Business Owners, Speakers, Meeting Planners, Online Experts, Media Personalities.  It is important to know whom you want to give to and connect to.
  3. Get interesting.  Make some time to write an interesting BIO.  Write and run it by a few really honest friends.  Tell a story that is interesting and shares who you help and how you help them.  If it is even a little bit boring….do it again.
  4. Make a list of all the things you can share with others.  Resources, articles, interesting websites, freebies, quotes, scriptures, interesting people, outstanding events, must have gadgets, etc. After you make the list, go back and write which target market(s) would appreciate this.

I am back and blogging….

Im Back If you are in business….no scratch that…..in life.  You can relate to how you can become very busy and have things fall through the cracks.  Yes….it has been almost a year since my last blog post. (Confessions of a BUSY-ness person).  Where have I been? Why didn’t I write?

I do a fair amount of speaking and one of the things I usually mention is that the word business has been misspelled.  It should have been spelled B-U-S-Y ness.  We often think that because we are BUSY that we are producing results and nothing is farther from the truth.

One of the reasons I didn’t blog last year is I really didn’t understand how to leverage it into results.  For me it was just another item on my already full plate that didn’t make sense.  Now, I get it!

In the next couple of months, I will be sharing a ton of information with you about marketing your business, how to leverage a blog to grow your business, how to succeed in this new economy, advice from top experts, sales strategies, Internet marketing strategies, how to use social networking sites to make money, free or very, very inexpensive marketing ideas and a whole lot more.
