Social Networking Article: How to be successful in Social Networking
Many business professionals get into Social Networking….not by design but because they finally gave in to all the crazy requests they were getting from other professionals. What typically happens is that most professionals lose a ton of time trying to “figure out” how to get results from what they are doing. I recall losing about 4 hours in Facebook one night involved in a “virtual food fight”. I still have no idea where that got me or what I achieved.
So let’s get to the tip already……..TIP #1 in Social Networking: You have to have a very specific plan to SUCCEED. Here is what your plan should include:
The Plan
1. How I am going to attract prospects to me is by offering them. You can create a freebie. You can get some ideas from this post.
2. What I am going to offer to these people who take the freebie is ______. This is an upsell….an offer. Think about what the next logical step would be for them. HINT: Make this $100 or less.
3. What I am going to offer to people who buy a $100 or less item from me is___________. This is your next step in your sales process. If you don’t have a sales process…..you need to get one.
4. I am going to become the Rock Star of my expertise in this area __________. This is where you will list what you are an expert at or what you want to be know as an expert.
5. This is who my target market is _________. Please do not list “Anyone”. It is really hard to refer “Anyone” to you. The more specific you are…the more you will receive. This is one of the BIGGEST mistakes I see companies make…they don’t really know WHO their target market is.
6. To be exact, my target market is ____________. Describe specific individuals, companies, examples….of your target market. As Mark Victor Hansen said, “You have to have a niche to get rich”.
7. In _____________ months, I will ________________. List your top 10 outcomes you would like to achieve. Yes…your top 10 goals.
8. When I am in my social networks I am going to find the following people:
- List other companies, industries and professions that compliment yours. In other words, who would be good referral sources.
- List your specific target market.
- List people you would love to interview and that would appeal to your target market.
I will feel Social Networking is worthwhile if I am able to___________. List 3 things so you will know you have arrived.
Having a plan in Social Networking will save you time and more importantly generate results. If you allow your inbox, your invitations and your lack of knowledge to determine your to do list….then yes, you will probably miss out on what is possible with Social Networking. Create your plan today….even if you have already joined Social Networking sites. It is never too late to implement a great plan.
